Jacktie is extremely quick and easy to use. You only need a 25mm hole cutter with a pilot drill bit suitable for steel, the Jacktie itself and the key provided. You may need an extension for the hole cutter drill piece depending on the make up of the cladded steelwork.
Step 1:
Locate the steel structure (steel purlin) behind the cladding and drill the necessary hole through the cladding and steelwork.
Step 2:
Ensure that the wheel collar is at the front end of the Jacktie. Push the Jacktie into the drilled hole.
Step 3:
Using the key tool provided, insert key into the Jacktie and turn in a clockwise direction as far as it will go to engage the locking pins. Remove the key.
Step 4:
Pull the Jacktie back towards you, allowing it to lock in place behind the steelwork, then hand tighten the wheel collar up to the face of the cladding..
Step 5:
A 16mm ring bolt can then be screwed into the front of the Jacktie.
Step 6:
Scaffold tube can then be attached through the ring bolt to tie the scaffolding to the building using the standard procedure for physical ties as detailed in BS5973.
Step 1:
Loosen the wheel collar
Step 2:
Insert the key tool into the Jacktie and turn in an anticlockwise direction
Step 3:
Remove the key and withdraw the Jacktie from the hole
Step 4:
Insert plug into the hole left in the cladding for a neat and clean finish
Step 5:
Store the Jacktie safely for re-use
It is important that the moving locking pins are regularly checked to ensure free movement.
Lubricate with oil or light grease when necessary.
